More About The Organisation
We enjoy a wide range of activities that provide us with great experiences and learning opportunities. There is something for everyone. We do follow Royal Air Force type activities quite closely - we are Air Cadets after all!
Having passed out from the Induction flight cadets go on to one of three different flights - either 'Ops' (Operations), Regiment or Band. Ops covers a broad range of activities similar to most squadrons. Band is for budding and acomplished musicians. Regiment flight do more physical and outdoor activities.
All activities are delivered with safety foremost in mind and staff are appropriately qualified for the activities they deliver. You will get involved with flying, shooting, music, outdoor adventure and trips away!
Are you open during term time?
|Tuesday||7.30pm - 9.00pm|
|Friday||7.30pm - 9.00pm|
Are there any costs to the user for your service?
Many activities are funded via the association that the Air Training Corps has with the Royal Airforce. So civilians would have to pay £100/hour for powered flying or £20 a flight for gliding and they would find their access to many activities that we offer almost impossible. How ever for cadets much of this is provided absolutely free. Adult staff give of their time for free and have travel expenses paid for by central funds.
However there are some costs incurred in running a busy squadron that are not covered so we charge a small quarterly subscription of £10 per cadet.
Attendance at weekend camp is currently £10 for all activities, transportation, all food and accommodation from Friday night to Sunday afternoon.
Other costs arise depending on activities undertaken - Duke of Edinburgh Award expeditions, annual camp, overseas camps and so on. Financial assistance may be possible in some cases.
