More About The Organisation
Our youth programmes operate across England, enabling young people to learn first aid, build their confidence, and gain important life skills.
If you're aged between 7 and 10, you can join Badgers. Learn first aid, have fun and you could even become a Super Badger!
10 to 17 years old can become Cadets. You’ll get the best first aid training, and a wide choice of other activities. You'll never be stuck for something to do.
If you're older, but you have what it takes to inspire young people, we have vacancies for youth leaders.
Are you open during term time?

At St John Ambulance (SJA), we are proud to offer all young people the opportunity to learn basic life saving skills through our youth programmes: Badgers, for young people aged 5– 10, or Cadets, for young people aged 10–18 (up to their 18th birthday). To support and develop our Bader and Cadet units we ask for annual subscriptions to be paid, once they have completed their Welcome Paw or Membership Award. This is a similar approach to other youth organisations which provide clubs and activities for young people.
Subscription payments will always be spent on services for young people within the same region they are received in, meaning you can be sure your money is going towards local SJA youth services.
The annual subscription is £72 per young person and can be paid annually by cheque, or by direct debit either annually or monthly (£6 per month). If there is a genuine reason why you cannot afford this, we won’t ask you to pay.
